Port Medway: Rosefinch Mercantile & Tea Room

Walking into Rosefinch Mercantile & Tea Room in Port Medway feels like visiting an old friend in the heart of Port Medway—it’s more than just a local shop; it’s a true community hub that combines charm, quality, and heart. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the aroma of exceptional coffee, perfectly brewed to complement any day. Port Medway is just 20 minutes from Liverpool, and is a sweet little enclave community by the water.

Rosefinch is part restaurant, part coffee shop, part gift shop, and part grocery store (with a Canada Post outlet to boot!). They’re open daily from 10am to 5pm. Owners Haritha and Audra created this delightful gathering place after the previous owners of the Port Grocer closed in 2021.

A standout feature at Rosefinch is the lovely baking, soups and sandwiches. The dishes are crafted with care, offering flavours that are both comforting and inventive. Join us every weekend for their thoughtfully curated Afternoon Tea experience, served alongside our regular café offerings in our cozy, welcoming space. Reservations are encouraged, as their weekend teas are known to sell out.

Each guest receives a pot of tea, three types of mini scones (freshly baked and served with butter and preserves), three kinds of sandwiches (featuring seasonal ingredients and local flavours), and three different desserts.

Rosefinch also boasts a thoughtful selection of grocery staples, making it a convenient stop for locals and visitors not wanting to make the drive into Liverpool, or half-hour jaunt to Bridgewater. The owners also stock their shop with curated gift items, with a local or Canadian flavour, perfect for treating yourself or finding that one-of-a-kind gift.

The seating area invites you to linger, whether you’re catching up with a friend, diving into a good book, or simply enjoying the welcoming ambiance. It’s a space that encourages connection and relaxation. In the summer, you can take your food to go and sit in the charming community garden behind the shop.

What truly sets Rosefinch Mercantile apart is its unwavering commitment to the community. The shop reflects the spirit of Port Medway, offering not just goods and services but a sense of belonging. Audra and Haritha have just begun to dip their toes into hosting community events in the space, so follow them on Facebook or Instagram to find out what’s happening.

Whether you’re a local regular or a curious traveler, Rosefinch Mercantile is a must-visit destination that promises quality, warmth, and a taste of Port Medway’s best.
